The Megason Lab is comprised of people with diverse backgrounds including genetics, developmental biology, imaging, math, physics, and computer science (bioinformatics and image analysis) united by a common passion for science and working together. We currently have a number of potential projects using genetics, genomics, synthetic biology, and imaging to study the cellular and systems mechanisms that that link genotype to phenotype in development.

We strive to create a lab culture that nurtures creativity, growth, and support for scientists from all backgrounds. We have an interactive, supportive, team-oriented working environment, and a strong commitment to mentoring and career development. As a PI I seek to develop your skills in ideation, project planning, communication, mentoring, networking, and leadership.

Undergraduate Students

Undergrads at Harvard or MIT are encouraged to apply to the Megason Lab for research experiences. It generally works best for undergrads to start in the lab the summer after their freshmen or sophomore year. Summer research allows undergrads to learn the pace of research in the absence of competing commitments. The Megason Lab is on the Longwood campus so during the school year the student would need to arrange their classes to have blocks of time for lab work. The M2 shuttle makes frequent stops at MIT, Harvard College, and Longwood, is free to students, and has free wireless.

Masters Interns

The Megason Lab accepts applications from students pursuing a Masters in Computer Science, Applied Math, and related fields who are required to do a 6-month internship as part of their training. We also accept students pursuing a masters in biological fields looking to perform research in an external lab.

PhD Students

Graduate students should be a member of a local graduate program such as Harvard Systems Biology, BBS, Biophysics, or MCB. Information on all these graduate programs can be found through the Harvard Integrated Life Sciences website.

Postdoctoral Fellows

Interested postdoc applicants should send a cover letter detailing your research motivations, a curriculum vitae, and the names of three references with contact information.
